In January 2022, the Faculty of Social Sciences (FMijW) of the Anton de Kom Universiteit van Suriname (AdeKUS) will enroll the 10th cohort of students for the Masters of Science programme in ‘Education and Research for Sustainable Development (MERSD)’. This programme is organized in collaboration with the Flemish Universities (Belgium). Teaching is in Dutch and English and a maximum of
25 students will be selected. The Master of Science programme supports academic research in four (4) pillars namely: community development, civil participation, poverty alleviation and entrepreneurship.

The course will start in the first week of January, 2022 and runs four days* a week, Monday till Thursday, from 16.00 – 20.00 hour (* depending upon the course it can be also five days a week).

Admission requirements
Applicants should have a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree obtained from one of the studies from the Anton de Kom University of Suriname (AdeKUS). Applicants with a Bachelor of Science degree obtained from an University other than AdeKUS, will be
requested to have their diploma checked by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture (known as “Ministerie van Onderwijs, Wetenschap en Cultuur (MinOWC).

Applications for the pre-registration
The pre-registration is now open. Candidates interested in the MSc programme in MERSD should fill in the pre-application form (to be downloaded from the FB page or on request to be emailed by Mr. Rinesh Kowlesar, MSc.) and submit it through email to: before the 31st of August, 2021.
On September 04th, 2021 a virtual information session will be organized to promote this study for the applicants. The zoom link will be send to those who have submitted the pre-application form.

Applications for final registration
Candidates can apply during the period of September – November, 2021 for enrollment to the MERSD cohort 10 (academic years 2021 – 2024). The application with the required documents (which can be downloaded from the FB page) should be submitted through email to: .
Information on how to apply for enrollment, requirements and selection procedures will be given at the information session on September 04th, 2021.

Before the 30th of November, 2021, all candidates will receive a final notification of acceptance or rejection by the selection committee MERSD. Selected candidates will be invited to complete the final registration and enrollment into the MERSD cohort 10 for the academic year 2021-2022 in December, 2021 (see the announcements at the website of Student Affairs of AdeKUS:

Registration and tuition fees
The annual enrollment and tuition fee for academic year 2021-2022 is US$1,500.00 (or equivalent in SRD (converted with the daily USD exchange rate of CBvS).
The annual enrollment or registration fee (SRD 1.850,00) as part of the above mentioned amount, has to be fulfilled during the registration at Bureau Student Affairs in December, 2021. The annual tuition fee may be paid at once or in four installments during the academic year 2021-2022.
