Curator Vertebrates
Purpose of the position
The Curator Vertebrates manages the Vertebrate collection of the NZCS/CMO, coordinates and processes incoming Vertebrate specimens; carries out research and service providing projects; gives lectures at the faculty and assists and guides visitors through the Vertebrate Collection.
Result indicators:
- An up to date and implemented management system for the Vertebrate collection including the digital processing of data coming from the collection.
- Expanding of the Vertebrate Collection.
- New incoming specimens processed and placed in the Vertebrate Collection.
- Contribution to research and service providing projects.
- Assisting and guiding of visitors in the Vertebrate collection according to the procedure.
- Contribute to education and educational tasks for the faculties.
- Teamwork
Is responsible for:
- Management of the Vertebrate Collection.
- The processing and placing of new incoming specimens in the vertebrate collection.
- Responsible for research and service projects by the vertebrate collection.
- Contribute to education at the faculties.
- Assist visitors within the vertebrate collection.
- In agreement with the head NZCS/CMO, forward requests for services and maintenance for the Vertebrate collection to the secretariat of the NZCS/CMO.
- In agreement with the head NZCS/CMO, plan visitor guidance in the vertebrate collection.
Education
- Minimal a MSc diploma in Biology, Biodiversity or related domain; field and research experience is needed.
Specific requirements:
- Extensive research experience regarding vertebrates, project writing and management;
- Good written and oral expression skills, especially in English;
- A critical, improvement-oriented attitude;
- Possess leadership qualities;
- Collaborative and team player;
- A customer and service-oriented attitude
- Accurate;
- Stress-resistant;
