Biography:

Aroenprekash (Roy) Badal got his MSc degree in applied physics at the Department of Physics of the Technical University of Delft, the Netherlands, in December 1995. In 1996 he started working as process engineer in the aluminum smelter of the SURALCO (Suriname Aluminium Company), where he worked in several departments and positions till his early retirement (in 2016) when the company closed.

In October 2016, he became a part-time lecturer at the Physics Department of the FWNW (Faculty of Mathematics and Physics) of the AdeKUS. In November 2017 he became a fulltime lecturer, and secretary of the faculty.

In 2019 he got elected as dean, a position he held till 2023, after which he became head of the Physics Department.

In 2023 he also got elected as chairman of the “Vereniging van Wetenschappelijk Personeel aan de Universiteit” (VWPU).
