BROHIM, Robert Mark MD, PhD, CMC

Biography:

Dr. Brohim is a certified management consultant (CMC) with an MD degree and a PhD in biomedical engineering. He has more than 30 years’ international experience in health management; project management, policy development, financing and insurance, monitoring and evaluation, hospital management, and working with many international funding agencies and development banks, in the public and private sector as well as NGO’s.

Brohim is also an experienced lecturer in the Physiotherapy and MPH programs of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Anton de Kom University of Suriname. His teaching topics include covering wound healing and infection, public health, health financing and health management.

Brohim has served on several (international) boards during his career: Board Member of the Caribbean Institute of Certified Management Consultants (CICMC), 2015-2017; Vice President of the Board of Commissioners of the Academic Hospital Paramaribo, 2001 – 2012; Chairman of the Society of Consultants in Suriname (VCS), 2002 – present; and Member of the Board of AIDsail, a HIV/AIDS foundation in California, USA, 2003 – 2010.

Brohim has given many invited keynote speeches, of which a the most recent ones were at the symposium “Priorities in the health crisis in Suriname”, September 2023 and the symposium “Financing our health care, National Basic Health Insurance” April 16, 2022, in Paramaribo, Suriname.
