Biography:

Elaine Cooman holds an MSc in Clinical Psychology from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. After several years of working in the mental healthcare sector with children and adults with a variety of addictions she moved to Suriname in 2016. In Suriname she set up a psychology practice and started teaching at the Psychology department of the Anton de Kom University of Suriname, where she teaches classes on clinical topics in both the bachelor and master’s program. Topics of interest include Acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, depression and psychosis and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing.
