Biography:

Dascha Kasan-Dipokarto received her Master of Science degree in Psychology at the Open University in the Netherlands with the main focus on Clinical Psychology in Child and Adolescent behavior. Before joining the Anton de Kom University, she has worked in various clinical practices (Child Psychology and Forensic Psychology), has attended conferences on the field of Positive and Caribbean Psychology and has worked as a social worker at the Ministry of Justice and Police of Suriname. Her professional and personal experiences have helped her to translate her knowledge into theory and vice versa. She has a curious character, perseverance and strongly believes that the four fundamentals of 21st century skills should be reflected in her students as well as in herself. She has completed the University Teachers professionalization in Education (DPO) training program. In her current employment she teaches Developmental Psychology, Developmental Disorders, Diagnostic and Intervention Techniques and Academic skills. As a member of the accreditation committee, she aids in maintaining the quality of the program. Her research interest includes developmental disorders, specifically diagnostic and intervention techniques based on Surinamese standards.
