Biography:

Marina Bersaoui Rambhadjan is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Anton de Kom University of Suriname (AdeKUS), where she has been teaching since 2017. She currently serves as Programme Coordinator of the Physiotherapy programme and contributes to curriculum development, academic leadership, and quality assurance within the faculty.

She is a PhD candidate at KU Leuven in the field of Cardiovascular Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences. Her research focuses on the role of exercise in the prevention and management of hypertension and investigates cardiovascular and autonomic mechanisms underlying exercise-induced blood pressure regulation, particularly in populations of African and Asian descent. Her work has resulted in several peer-reviewed publications indexed in PubMed, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses examining the effects of exercise on blood pressure in underrepresented populations.

In addition to her academic work, she contributes to national public health initiatives as a member of the HEARTS Commission of the Ministry of Health of Suriname, which is involved in the development of national clinical guidelines for hypertension and diabetes management.

Her academic interests extend beyond biomedical research to include health policy development, prevention strategies, and the integration of scientific evidence into public health and academic policy, particularly in relation to the prevention and management of chronic non-communicable diseases.
