Mohan, Satish R.K.
Biography:
Satish R.K. Mohan is a gynecologist and obstetrician at ’s Lands Hospital in Paramaribo, Suriname, where he has been practicing since 2003. Since 2007, he has also served as a lecturer at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Anton de Kom University of Suriname, actively contributing to medical education and the training of students, interns, and healthcare professionals.
He earned his medical degree from the Anton de Kom University of Suriname and completed his specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology in both Suriname and the Netherlands, including advanced training at Leiden University Medical Center and Reinier de Graaf Hospital in Delft.
Mohan is the head of the Central Midwifery Training Program in Suriname, where he has played a pivotal role in strengthening maternal healthcare capacity. He is a member of the Maternal Mortality Suriname (MAMS) committee and has participated in several research projects, including studies on postpartum hemorrhage and mercury exposure in pregnant women.
His professional interests center on maternal health, obstetrics, and enhancing clinical training. He has taken part in numerous national and international courses and continues to supervise and mentor students and healthcare trainees, fostering the next generation of medical professionals.
