Nesty, Pauline
Biography:
Pauline Nesty got her BSc in Psychology on December 17th 1988 at the University of Florida in Gainesville Florida and her MA in Special Education on December 17th 1991 at the University of South Florida in Tampa Florida.
She was head of the Department of Special Education at the Ministry of Education Science and Culture in Suriname and also worked at the Frank Cameron Institute for intellectually challenged youth and the Drie Ankers Foundation for the creation of job opportunities for these youths.
She became a part-time lecturer at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname in March 2013 and a fulltime lecturer in December 2017. She currently teaches special education and philosophy of science.
Pauline has been in Management of the Faculty of Social Sciences since January 2019 to date.
First as secretary of the Faculty Board from January 2019 through July 2021, as Dean from August 2021 through July 15th 2024 and currently, again, as secretary of the Faculty Board.
Her main research interests are centered around Early Childhood Development and Inclusive Education for intellectually and otherwise challenged kids.

- A study on gambling addiction in Suriname. To be conducted with colleagues Gita Jhinkoe Rai, Dew Ramkhelawan, Irene Ramdien and Fariel Ishaak.
- Faculty research group Slavery from a polyphonic perspective
- A method to incorporate cultural aspects of indigenous communities in district Sipaliwini to develop learning materials and didactics in primary schools according to educational needs.
