Biography:

Miquel Ommel earned his Master’s degree in Psychology with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Psychology from the Anton de Kom University of Suriname. Since 2024, he has been affiliated with the Department of Psychology, where he became a full-time lecturer in 2025. His research interests include child and adolescent development, climate anxiety and climate-related psychological experiences among young people, as well as psychological assessment. He is also engaged in research on the application and validation of psychological tests within the Surinamese context. In the 2026–2027 academic year, he will commence his PhD research focusing on climate stress.
