Biography:

Dew Ramkhelawan is a lecturer in research methods and statistics at the Faculty of Social Sciences (FMijW) of Anton de Kom University of Suriname (AdeKUS), where he teaches in the Education and Pedagogical Sciences (OPW) department.

Additionally, he is a member of the FMijW program committee (OPCIE) and leads the research section within the OPW department. With his expertise in statistics and research methods, he plays a key role in guiding students through their research proposals and theses.

He completed the AdeKUS Teachers Professionalization in Education training program (DPO) and is currently pursuing the Teachers Professionalization in Research (DPR) training program.

He supports students in developing essential academic skills for a research career, fostering both their academic and professional growth.

His experience with students and research has sparked a strong interest in understanding why students choose a (scientific) higher education program. His research, therefore, focuses on students’ academic backgrounds, motivations, and how an academic career aligns with their future aspirations.

  • Promoting the integration of education and research in bachelor’s programs: Research on enhancing research competencies in the curriculum of bachelor’s programs at the Faculty of Social Sciences
