Toelsie, Jerry
Biography:
Professor Jerry Toelsie is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Anton de Kom University of Suriname (AdeKUS). He lectures at the faculty and currently serves as Chair of the Medical Research Institute (MWI) as well as Chair of the Curriculum Committee. Previously, he held leadership roles as Vice Dean from 2009 to 2012 and Dean from 2012 to 2014.
Professor Toelsie obtained his medical degree from the Faculty of Medical Sciences at AdeKUS and later earned his PhD from Hasselt University in Belgium. His current research focuses on non-communicable diseases and their risk factors. He also collaborates closely with the Ministry of Health on national public health initiatives, including the WHO/PAHO HEARTS Initiative and research related to mortality.
